If you missed dinner this year, there's always next year, but only if you know someone that's invited! Good news is, you don't have to travel to Paris for this exclusive gala in white either.
Each year a White Dinner is celebrated in Canada! The idea started in Paris and this year Montreal celebrated it's third annual event. We love the fact that guests board buses with destination unknown until they're on board. Quite the party! No ordindary picnic! Not open to everyone, you must know someone whose invited. A night in white to remember!
It's no secret that SPoA loves WHITE! It's been written before and engraved in STONE! Hmmm, now we'll have to search our contacts living in Montreal that may extend an invitation to SPoA next year!

And this year, CHICAGO has caught onto the worldwide phenomenon, but they're doing away with the 'elitist' flair and selling tickets to 500. Reminds me of the dining approach for NEXT Restaurant in Chicago where tickets are pre sold when you sign up to their mail list. A friend tells me you have to be fast though - tickets sell out within minutes, but quick fingered scalpers snatch up tickets for you and if you really feel the need for this type of dining 'experience and are willing to pay big $, the gig can be yours!

But sadly, Dîner en Blanc tickets could go the way NEXT tickets have gone and appear on CRAIGS LIST selling to the highest bidder making the 'special' feel dwindle as it's done to Grant Achatz's restaurant. If your fortunate enough to have bought cheap tickets (and not scalped on CRAIG'S LIST for $3,000.), you're still in for a big treat. The second iteration debuted on July 8th and they're whipping up a THAI STREET FOOD themed menu, but sorry folks no WHITE LINEN! You'll be eating on NEWSPAPER!! As stated, this will be less spa, more hip hop so put on the jeans, bring the kids and leave the jewels at home. Sure to be yummy!
"Thai street food will be featured prominently and "reams and reams" of Thai newspaper will be used to cover the tables and serve the first courses on. In terms of music, there will be "less Thai spa, more Thai hip hop." From HERE.

"...... While other cities limit the guest list to friends of organizers, the Chicago Dîner was more egalitarian. “The overwhelming majority of attendees came from the general public. We wanted this to be an event open to the people of Chicago, rather than an elite minority,” said co-founder and Director of Strategic Accounts at 360i LLC Kelly McCoy Williams. Ticket sales opened on August 1st with an initial offering of 500 places, which sold out in a minute and a half. According to co-founder and Director of Training and Development at Metroplex, Inc Nicole Lockett, “we knew this would get a lot of attention, but we weren’t expecting 2,000 hits per minute on our web site. It was unprecedented.” Over the next few weeks, tickets were released to waitlisted guests."
