Aged Entry

Intriguing Room ~ University of Toronto
Photographer, David Sullivan
Used With Permission

When you arrive at someone's door the first thing you look for is the knocker or the door bell... you may notice the door handle or knob. The door is the passageway into the heart of any establishment...home, grand halls or educational institutions. It's important to give the entry way a special treatment... attained by painting it a vibrant welcoming colour or chosing classic dark tones. The hardware you choose can make a statement all on it's own.

I love old...the rich pattina of aged bronze that looks as though the door has been there forever...where the mind can drift back in wonder, thinking about how many travellers have passed through the very same door you're about to enter.

Tell'em Charlie Trotter invited ya! My kind of town, dada da da.....Chicago is!

Too many choices, not enough time! That's the feeling when you visit Chicago! Much to do and see all squished into a few days and you're zooming! It was much slower paced in the windy city this time than the previous time. The person showing me the sites knew his way around the city and familiar with some of the coolest restaurants. Visiting Chicago you'll have no problem finding superb places to dine. Eating experiences with wine pairings that make any French chef stumble around in the kitchen...they do sip the wine you know! *smile* One of our favs among a couple of others was Charlie Trotters. When you 'burger' you burger, but when you 'dine' it MUST be white linen!

Pictures range from October, 2009 to March, 2010.

Wonderful rainy sort of day on the river cruise.

Ha! Do I even have to say it? When you're in Chicago you must have a Chicago style pizza! But don't order a large...it's TOo much. I swear the person I was with was trying to fatten me up! As you can see, it wasn't 'white linen' all the time, we did rough it a little bit!

Chicago Night. Beautiful!

A blend of old and new.

Working hard, opening emails and look what they're sending me!

OK, so what does Tom Morello and Hatley Castle have in common?

EMAIL ONE: This picture just arrived from my sister. She writes "Hi Bella, Arrived safely and am now on the campus in an old house near the castle." She knows how much I love the fall, she knows my love of old castles! Sounds like heaven to be in the midst of this idyllic setting. She's fortunate to be teaching at Royal Roads University in BC. Hatley Castle is the university's main building. You can read more about it HERE.  Wish I was there!

EMAIL TWO: A charming friend emailed Tom Morello's vid suggesting I take guitar lessons, in my spare time! If you heard laughter, was me! To quote them "u should listen to Morello, think u should get an electric guitar to play as a hobby u'd b a good guitarist."

Back to work now _ two emails, timeless, precious from two special people.
