Sitting in the fog

You may have travelled many places. You may even considered yourself a 'global child' but tell me, have you ever sat in the fog and stared out into the mist for moments on end....your mind creating a picture of what lies beyond. You cannot see it, but you can feel it, this sense of mystery beyond. Those who have never experienced the beauty of a foggy day, may I suggest you try this exercise of mind. It will bring you peace and allow you to absorb that which lies within.

This global child has travelled far.
Distant places called home.
Roots grounded upon the earth setting in motion the soul.
Family and culture is all mankind.
Said journey's shaped who I am - changed - humbled me.
Different perspectives learned.
The beauty of going is coming back home.

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”

Frozen Tears

I heard something beautiful today...it was a comment someone wrote on a friend's fb wall which reminded me of a beautiful piece of music.

Words that sound 'poetic' stay with me forever and these two words have that kind of 'staying power.'

What do you think of when you hear the words 'frozen tears?'

For me it encapsulates a lot of emotion.

Void,
frozen in time,
waiting to breathe life back into me,
waiting for tender words
shatter the silence,
wipe the frozen tears.
Tears
frozen upon my face.

You are missed.

Frozen Tears from Winterriese by Franz Schubert

On 'Winterreise'

Winterreise is also known as Winter Journey which is a cycle of 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller and best known as the song cycle set for voice and piano by Franz Schubert. It is the second of Schubert's two great song cycles on Müller's poems, the earlier being Die schöne Müllerin. Both were originally written for tenor voice but are frequently transposed to suit other vocal ranges - the precedent being established by Schubert himself. These two works have posed interpretative demands on listeners and performers due to their scale and structural coherence. Although Ludwig van Beethoven's cycle An die ferne Geliebte (To the distant beloved..and was thought to be the first true song cycle) had been published earlier, in 1816, Schubert's two cycles hold the foremost place in the history of the genre.

We Love

We're passionate about music. Just like ART, we cannot imagine a life without it and the thought of this is simply and undenibly a misnomer. In our humble opinion this was, is and always will be one of the most beautiful musical compositions we've heard. Ennio Morricone is a musical genius. Visit Morricone's site HERE.

When listening to the music score from The Mission I close my eyes, sit back feeling each note resonate emotions felt deep inside. It makes my heart soar and brings great peace, almost as though it is transporting one to the heavens. Yes, it is that glorious. We call this particular piece of music a "do everything to" type of score....con dolce piano! It's perfect to paint while listening to it, resting to it, cooking to it, exploring feelings through dance interpretation....even reading while it plays in the background and perfect for creating a mood when your mind speaks to the heart.

**Music makes life better.
** Another Stone Parliament of Art's favorite and most special sounds.
**Listen. Enjoy. Let it penetrate deep. Let it take you somewhere.

WINTER GRASS SERIES

The photos that belong to the WINTER GRASS collection were a commissioned grouping and a pleasure to shoot on a moody Sunday afternoon. During the last days of winter there is a lingering mood. The heart can actually feel dusk as it begins to settle after a warm sun filled day. You can feel the cold darkness returning as night falls, remnants of winter felt once again as a reminder that it's not over yet.

Cool - Calming for a hot summers day....sunshine light, winters delight
Azure hues ocean on snow. Withered blades dancing upward ~ sky reaching.
Trodden snow to eye. Cosmic mood embrace.
Grace of winterscapes, Winter's Grass.

English Prof Named Toronto's Poet Laureate

University of Guelph English professor Dionne Brand today was named Toronto's poet laureate. As the city's literary ambassador, she'll attend events as an advocate for poetry, language and the arts. She'll also create a literary legacy project.

“It’s an honour to be the poet laureate of Toronto,” said Brand. “I have a great passion for this city. In its multiplicity, it is constantly rich and surprising. I've written this about it in thirsty — that wild waiting at traffic lights off the end of the world, where nothing is simple, nothing, in the city there is no simple love or simple fidelity, the heart is slippery.”

I dance with earth under sky ecstatic rhythm pleasured by holy vine.

Come be with me in dappled sunlight,
languorous spirit share.
O come explore the realm of rock and humus
pebble stone water wind air
Let sacred touch go deep.

I dance with earth under sky
ecstatic rhythm pleasured by holy vine.
